    DESCRIPTION: The School of Business at the University of Redlands welcomes applications for tenure-track faculty position in Information Systems and Geographic Information Systems in Business at open rank.

    The University of Redlands (www.redlands.edu) is recognized as a premiere regional liberal education institution, situated on a picturesque campus in the city of Redlands, within one hour of Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Joshua Tree and Lake Arrowhead. The School of Business offers innovative undergraduate and graduate degree programs at several locations throughout Southern California.

    Applicants will be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate level courses in Business GIS and conduct research that concerns locational aspects of business, society, and the economy, and also participate in grant-funded research projects. The School has two Centers, the Center for Business GIS and Spatial Analysis (GISAB) and Institute for Spatial Economic Analysis (ISEA) that are heavily invested in spatial research, locational analytics, and education. The University has the Center for Spatial Studies (CSS) that supports faculty and students to think and act spatially, using GIS, remote sensing, concept mapping, cloud tools, and other technologies (spatialstudies.redlands.edu).     The School expects excellence in teaching and applied research; experience or strong interest in cross-functional teaching and research; desire to work with other faculty and with practitioners to create and implement innovative curricula and learning approaches; effective interaction with members of diverse cultures; motivation and desire to mentor and inspire traditional and non-traditional learners; and a desire and ability to experiment with and implement technology-enhanced learning.

    POSITION CRITERIA: Interested applicants should have a completed doctorate in Information Systems with background in GIS, clear evidence of research and teaching achievement and/or potential, and demonstrable business knowledge at the MBA level or higher. Applicants with teaching and research interests in geo-analytics, retail and marketing geography, economic geography, urban geography, geo-business, and/or spatial big data are encouraged to apply. Practitioner experience in business-related and spatial/locational activities and team projects is highly desirable. Hires beyond the Assistant Professor level must be justified through significant and sustained scholarly and/or professional activity. All applicants should have a record of achievement in their functional area and vibrant interest in cross-functional teaching, adult learners, and business education within the context of traditional liberal arts and science disciplines. The School of Business operates without discipline-based departments. The selected candidate must be able to competently interact with a diverse population of students, staff and faculty.
