BASF is looking for an Economist / Mathematician / Operations Research Consultant (m/f)

We are the world's leading chemical company because we offer intelligent solutions for our customers and for a sustainable future. We link and develop people with diverse talents all over the world. For you, this means a variety of ways to advance. Not only your performance but also your personality matter to us. At BASF, careers develop from opportunities. Ludwigshafen is the world's largest integrated chemical complex and home to BASF Group headquarters. Located in the heart of Europe's Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region, you will find this to be an attractive place for both work and play.

    What you can expect
Our Operations Research Team provides BASF-wide quantitative decision support for multiple application areas, based on mathematical modeling and optimization. This comprises e.g. detailed operational scheduling, inventory optimization, and tactical planning, as well as optimal design, and strategic decision support. From the beginning, you will be responsible for projects in this field closely co-operating with business units, supply chain management and marketing. In this context, you will
communicate the ideas and solutions of mathematical modeling to a broad community of non-mathematicians and will be acting as a driving force in interdisciplinary project teams. Furthermore, you will establish and maintain collaborations with academic research groups in that field evaluating new approaches and exploring new application opportunities.

    What we expect
You have earned an outstanding PhD in economics, industrial engineering or mathematics and already gained experience in mixed integer optimization and quantitative decision support applied to real world scenarios. To this, you add a strong background in mathematical modeling and optimization as well as statistics skills. You are comfortable working in multinational interdisciplinary teams and preferably already gained international experience. Furthermore, you are a creative and motivated team player with strong communication and presentation skills.

    We offer
Responsibility from day one in a challenging work environment and "on-the-job" training as part of a committed team.

Competitive compensation including attractive benefits as well as excellent career opportunities in an international company.
