Research Investigator Job at Geisinger Center for Healthcare Systems Re-Engineering (GCHSR)
Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISyE) has transformed the way Geisinger Health System (GHS) makes strategic and tactical decisions, which has improved the operational efficiency, access to care, and cost of care. GHS has had a profound impact through applying ISyE across a wide variety of complex and highly variable settings including inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinics, emergency departments, and operating rooms. We adapt and refine our solution approaches to match each situation. In support of our mission to be a leading healthcare organization, GHS embraces ISyE to leverage vast amounts of data, make better decisions, and share successes and failures nationally with peers and institutions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the clinicians, health services researches and other healthcare professionals to identify novel applications of ISyE to improve patient experience, access to care, patient engagement, and population health
- Develop innovative methods to apply ISyE principles to improve healthcare quality, patient safety, and efficiency of healthcare operations
- Work closely with the Geisinger Analytics and Operations Research Department to rapidly prototype research findings and evaluate new methods
- Collaborate with GCHSR's academic partners to advance ISyE applications in healthcare
- Work in the capacity of an industrial advisor to PhD and MS students
- Seek extramural funding
- Publish in peer reviewed journals
Candidate Requirements:
This is a research position. The ideal candidate will have expertise in ISyE and a strong interest in healthcare and desire to do research. Specific areas of interest include advanced predictive modeling, scheduling, simulation, and optimization.
