    Dear INFORMS members,
On behalf of WINFORMS (The Washington DC Chapter of INFORMS), we would like to invite you to attend our 2015 student paper competition presentations on Tuesday April 21st.  This year, we received 9 outstanding applications. We are excited to see such original and innovative graduate research taking place in the field of applied Operations Research. After much deliberation, the committee is pleased to announce that 3 finalists have been selected to advance present their work. In alphabetical order by last name, they are:
    • Optimal Learning For Designing Effective Fundraisers At The American Red Cross, Bin Han, University of Maryland
    • A Simulation-Optimization Method for Quantitative Aggregation of Prior Statistical Findings - Case Study: Aggregation of 27 Predictive Models for Basal Metabolic Rate, Mohammad Jalali, Virginia Tech
    • Adaptive Robust Optimization of Surgery and Downstream Capacity Planning, Saba Neyshabouri, George Mason University
These finalists will each present their work for evaluation and ranking on Tuesday, April 21st at 6:00PM at Lockheed Martin Co., 2121 Crystal Dr # 100, Arlington, VA, 22202 (food and refreshment will be provided courtesy of Lockheed Martin).
If you are planning to attend this event, please RSVP via our meetup site: http://www.meetup.com/WINFORMS/  and also per the building requirements, please register with Lockheed Martin by submitting your name and citizenship to Katherine Broderick at katherine.k.broderick@lmco.com
This is a great opportunity for you to attend a WINFORMS seminar and meet our members. We hope you all consider joining our chapter. WINFORMS is one of the most active chapters of INFORMS and it's a great place to network and get to know other OR/MS professionals in metro DC. Should you desire, WINFORMS would be pleased to support you in learning more about OR/MS, jobs searches, resume reviews, and so forth. Know that such support is only an email away.
    Sincerely,
    Hoda Parvin and Meagan Pitluck-Schmitt
WINFORMS President and Vice President/ President Elect
