  • 1.  Looking for Career Advice in Data Science

    I'm looking for help in determining the applicability of my skill set to Data Science. It'd be great if I could ask an experienced data scientist about what it takes to be hired into the field. I've read a number of online articles and posts on this, but the definition of "data science" is so all over the map that I'd like to actually talk/email someone actually involved in it to get some perspective. Recruiters in data science have been somewhat helpful, but I'd like to talk with an actual data scientist as well.

    Please note that I am not necessarily looking for a long-term mentor or anything involved like that, just someone that I can ask some industry-specific questions to and get some honest feedback on my current skills and goals.

    Michael,

    Are you attending the Analytics Conference this coming week in Huntington Beach? It will be full of folks who call themselves Data Scientists and there would be ample opportunity for conversation.
