Special Issue Scope:

Decision analytics consists of three main components from raw data to final insightful decisions: descriptive analytics, predictive analytics, and prescriptive analytics. This special issue is focused on studies where theoretical foundation development, novel applied and methodological approaches are presented for improved managerial decision making practices. Data mining and decision analytics have strong foundations ranging from decision theory and operations research to advanced statistical modeling. Both have emerged to be successful when deployed in managerial decision making within a range of critical business areas including Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, International Business, Logistics, Management, Marketing, Production & Operations, and the Supply Chain. This in turn has drawn the attention of researchers from various disciplines as reflected in the growth of the conferences and workshops particularly themed with data mining and decision analytics. This special issue welcomes the best submissions of 2016 INFORMS Workshop on Data Mining & Decision Analytics, DSI 2016, ICIS 2016, AMCIS 2016, ECIS 2016, and HICSS 2017. Participants of this workshop and these conferences are highly encouraged to submit their extended and enriched papers to this special issue, fully conforming to the specifications of the Decision Sciences journal as outlined by its Author Guidelines.

While the targeted papers are desired to have very strong theoretical contribution in these areas, direct managerial implications should also be relevant and significant. This special issue will solicit papers emphasizing analytical modeling methodologies which include, but not limited to:

    ·        Business analytics: Descriptive, Predictive, and Prescriptive Analytics

    ·        Decision support systems and business intelligence

    ·        Data mining, data analytics with big data

    ·        Statistical inference making and probabilistic modeling

    ·        Artificial intelligence, machine learning

    ·        Association rule mining, clustering, feature selection  

    ·        Text mining, web mining, and visual analytics

    ·        Causal inference, structural equation modeling, partial least squares modeling  

    ·        Multi-criteria decision making

    ·        Fuzzy logic modeling

    ·        Simulation modeling and optimization

Other topics that can be categorized under the "decision analytics" context are also welcome. Please consult the guest co-editors if you need a clarification in that regard before submission.

Considering the timing of the 2016 INFORMS Workshop on Data Mining & Decision Analytics, DSI 2016, ICIS 2016, AMCIS 2016, ECIS 2016, and HICSS 2017; the projected timeline for this special issue has been set as follows: 

Deadline for full paper submissions: February 28, 2017

Final notifications to authors: end of February, 2018
