Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) was founded in 2009 as the fourth National Institute of Science and Technology (after KAIST, GIST, and DGIST) in South Korea. Since its opening, UNIST has truly become one of world's leading science and technology universities, despite being younger than its peers.

The School of Management Engineering was established in 2016 to address a lack of related skills in the metropolitan city of Ulsan, the hub of Korean manufacturing industry, where more than one million people are living. The school consists of two research areas, Industrial Engineering and Financial Engineering. The school offers undergraduate, MSc, and PhD programs.

The School of Management Engineering, UNIST, is seeking applicants for three full-time, tenure-track or tenured faculty positions in Industrial Engineering, expected to begin on March 2018. The start date is negotiable. The positions are primarily at the assistant or associate professor-level but outstanding applicants at the full professor-level will also be considered. Candidates should have a PhD degree (or near completion of the degree for assistant professor-level applicants) in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or other closely related disciplines (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics) and demonstrate a strong competence in both research and teaching. Areas of interest include but are not limited to optimization, statistics, machine learning, and data science. Multiple application domains are also welcome, including manufacturing, transportation, and healthcare. Academic or industrial experience will be considered preferably.

The university is offering a competitive compensation package. Faculty members at UNIST receive the highest level of starting salaries among the national universities in Korea. Faculty members also receive generous start-up research grants and comprehensive benefits including on-campus modern housing, medical insurance, pension plan, and moving expenses.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae including a list of at least three references, and at most three job market papers to: Changyong Lee, Associate Professor, School of Management Engineering, UNIST at changyong@unist.ac.kr. Applications completed by November 15, 2017 will be given full consideration, although the search will continue until the positions are filled. Late applications will be considered in a year-round recruitment program. Preliminary interviews will be arranged in the 2017 INFORMS Annual Meeting with selected candidates who submit their applications by October 15, 2017. Applicants are requested to specify if they will attend the conference. For questions regarding the application process, please send an email to changyong@unist.ac.kr.

UNIST is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to national origin, sex, disability, religion, or any other characteristic protected by law.
