We are excited to announce a special issue of Networks that covers a variety of optimization methodologies and applications arising from transportation, logistics, and industrial contexts.
Four of the papers in this special issue focus on the development of new methodologies for network optimization problems:
• minimum spanning trees that take into account conflicting edges,
• generalized minimum label spanning trees,
• polyhedral analysis of the capacitated edge activation problem and its robust counterpart,
• cooperative network game approach to assess node centrality
In addition, this issue contains three application-oriented contributions:
• analysis of the impact of environmental externalities on freight distribution
• routing of traffic demands to accommodate quality of service requirements
• solution approaches for optimal diversity management problems
We trust that the readership of INFORMS will find these contributions to be of interest.
