The Department of Mathematics at North Carolina State University
invites applications for a junior tenure-track position beginning Fall
2020. Applications from suitably qualified candidates for more senior
positions will be considered. We are seeking exceptionally
well-qualified individuals with research interests in
interdisciplinary and/or applied mathematics. Interdisciplinary
candidates are expected to be involved in cross-disciplinary
collaborative research with demonstrated potential for impact and will
need to demonstrate experience in and appreciation for mathematical
research that is actively engaged with other disciplines, such as
engineering or life sciences. For applied mathematics candidates,
expertise in one or more of the following areas: dynamical systems,
approximation theory (e.g. compressed sensing and sparse
approximations), machine learning, applied probability, numerical
analysis, or optimization is of particular interest. Information about

areas; successful post-doctoral training; experience in, and a
continued commitment to, outstanding research and effective teaching
at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels. Inclusiveness and
