    Happy Military Spouse Appreciation Day!

When I left Active Duty to pursue a long term career in operations research, I went from being half of a dual military couple to being a veteran and an AD spouse. I've found that working in OR has helped in that I can live pretty much anywhere and work remotely without worrying too much about career opportunities. Many spouses do not have this advantage.

If you're a military spouse, what advantages or disadvantages have you found with having your own career in OR?

    Thank you Katie!

Spouses are amazing, and I'm very fortunate to have a great partner.

My quick rant on spouse careers:  I also want to point out to all those currently serving...and those who know people currently serving.  The military services are, albeit slowly, getting better at supporting the ability for spouses to have "paying" careers that are portable.  Kris Saling posts weekly(?) the Army jobs that are remote.  Follow her on LinkedIn to see those.  (https://www.linkedin.com/in/kris-saling/)  Companies like Salesforce and others offer free training and support to land remote jobs in tech.  I hope these options continue.
