TSL Call for Officer Nominations 2020

  

Dear TSL Society Members:

Now is the time of year when we as a society elect a new slate of leaders. This message is to inform our society about the roles that we seek to fill this year as well as encourage nominations and self-nominations for those roles that will reflect the diversity of our society. We would like to affirm that all members are eligible for the board roles described below; no particular background or history of society service is required. Serving in one of these roles can provide a wonderful opportunity for a member to become more involved in our society and further develop their own professional networks.

Every year, we elect a new Vice President (President-Elect, VP) who will serve a year as VP and then subsequently a year as President. The VP is responsible for monitoring and improving the membership in the Society, and to appoint a Cluster Chair for organizing TSL sessions at INFORMS meetings. To learn more about tasks and responsibilities, feel free to approach me, the current VP (mhewitt3@luc.edu).

We are also this year electing a new Secretary/Treasurer (ST). The ST takes the minutes of the Society meetings and is responsible for correspondence and notification of meetings. The ST maintains contact with INFORMS staff and files an annual report describing the Society's activities and financial state. In addition, the ST is responsible for all financial matters, including the financial records of the Society and all its Special Interest Groups (SIGs). The society also has several Special Interest Groups (SIGs), each of which is led by a Chair and Vice Chair with the VC rotating up to Chair after 2 years. We are seeking nominees for the Air Transportation SIG Vice Chair. SIG Chairs represent their SIG on the Society board are responsible for the general supervision, direction and control of the activities of their SIG. Also welcome are (self-) nominations for TSL Cluster Vice Chair, who is responsible for coordinating TSL activities at the annual INFORMS meeting.

The election will begin later in the month and winners will be introduced at the TSL Business Meeting at INFORMS Washington.
