Smart Cities and Sustainable Communities Take Care of their Homeless.
In Arizona, nearly 30% of the population is considered working poor, living on wages that barely cover housing and other basic necessities and have little money to spare for food. This difficult standard of living has left over 36,000 people homeless and unsure of where their next meal will be coming from.
In the spirit of our conference theme, “Smart City and Sustainable Communities,” INFORMS Pro Bono Analytics has partnered with St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, a food bank and distribution network, and coordinated a volunteering initiative for the INFORMS Annual Meeting Attendees to build snack packs for Phoenix’s homeless population, helping make a positive impact in our conference host city. As much as we need just a few minutes of our attendee’s time building the kits on-site, this effort to give back cannot be possible without the financial support of our members, sponsors and exhibitors, and conference community.
Our goal is to provide St. Mary’s Food Bank with 1,000 complete Snack Packs that will be distributed as a part of complete Meal Bag Kits to homeless individuals on the streets of Phoenix. Please consider a monetary donation to assist INFORMS and its members in their continued efforts to support the communities of our conference host cities.
We need your help!
We are thrilled to announce that all contributors have the opportunity to double their donations
as an anonymous donor has agreed to match all contributions up to $5,000.
