Clara Novoa is an Associate Professor in the Ingram School of Engineering, Industrial Engineering Program, at Texas State University. She received her PhD in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University in 2005. Her research interests include Renewable Energy Planning, Supply Chain Optimization, Cybersecurity of Cyberphysical Systems, Healthcare Optimization, and Parallel Computing to accelerate operations research algorithms. Dr. Novoa also has done research in Engineering Education and Additive Manufacturing with emphasis on refining spatial visualization skills for improving the retention of female and underrepresented minorities in STEM fields.  She has published over 35 papers in journals and conference proceedings applying Operations Research to her practical areas of interest. She directs the Systems Optimization Learning and Renewable Energy (SOLAR) lab at Texas State University. Dr. Novoa is Co-PI for ME-Green: Manufacturing for Environment by Generating Renewable Energy in Enterprise Networks (NSF# 1704933, CBET, 2017-2021). She also has worked as PI and Co-PI on two engineering education research projects funded by the NSF. Dr. Novoa is a member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) and the Institute for the Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS). Currently, she is the INFORMS Minority Issues Forum (MIF) treasurer for the years 2020-2021.
