Afshin Mansouri is a Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management, and Director of Research at Brunel Business School and member of the Institute of Energy Futures at Brunel University London. He holds PhD, MSc, and BSc Degrees in Industrial Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology. Alongside academic education, he has worked for many years in production and project management. Prior to joining Brunel University in 2007, he has held academic and research positions at the University of Tours, University of Tehran, and King’s College London. Professor Mansouri’s areas of interest include: Operations and Supply Chain Management, Humanitarian Operations and Crisis Management, Sustainable Operations Management, Green Scheduling, and Multi-Objective Decision Support. His research on humanitarian supply chain management for disaster relief in Iran has been funded by ESRC. He is co-investigator and leader of the scientific work package of the EU FP7 funded project MINI-CHIP which aims to minimise carbon footprint in maritime shipping, co-investigator of EU Horizon 2020 project CLOUD-VAS aims at developing a cloud-based decision support system for vessel chartering, and co-investigator of Horizon 2020 project Z-Fact0r that aims to enhance sustainability of manufacturing operations in Europe. He has also received research funding from Brunel University to investigate the role of multi-objective optimisation as a decision aid in build-to-order supply chains. Afshin is Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transportation.
