    Assistant Professor – Data Analytics

    San Francisco State University, Department of Decision Sciences offers an exciting opportunity for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2020. We seek a colleague whose teaching and research interests include data analytics, operations management or statistics. We are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, through diversity, to the excellence of the academic community.

    The Department of Decision Sciences resides within the AACSB-accredited Lam Family College of Business, which serves over 5,000 students. Current topics of instruction include operations management, statistics, forecasting, simulation, management science, quality management, project management, supply chain management, and data analysis/data mining. We have recently begun to offer an MS degree in Business Analytics, and emphasize applications within the business environment in all courses.

    Responsibilities: The position requires undergraduate and graduate teaching in data analytics, operations management or statistics, mentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate students, developing an active ongoing program of scholarship and publication in one's area of specialty, and ongoing committee and service assignments.     Qualifications:

    Required:

    • Ph.D. in Decision Sciences, Operations Research, Management Science, Statistics, Computer Science or a related field. Terminal degree must be completed by the first day of employment.
    • Record of working and communicating effectively with colleagues and students

    Preferred:

    • Record of teaching contributions in the areas of: data analytics, operations management, statistics
    • Active record of scholarship related to specialty area
    • Demonstrated ability to incorporate inclusion, diversity, and educational equity in teaching, and/or scholarship/creative works
    • Experience teaching and working closely with students from historically under-represented communities
    • Record of contributing to collegial, supportive and collaborative work environments
