    Role description

    As a postdoctoral researcher, you will join the Humanitarian Research Group and INSEAD's Technology and Operations Management Area.

    Your role will be threefold. First, you will be responsible for a few (usually 2-3) research projects with humanitarian organizations and apply for/develop new research projects. This involves project management, supervising research staff working on them, maintaining relationships with humanitarian organizations involved, scanning calls for proposals, and writing proposals/research plans. Second, you will help turn our projects into high quality case studies and academic papers. Third, you will be responsible for the daily management of HRG. This involves project/personnel planning, contracting, organizing group meetings/group events, updating the website, dealing with contacts and potential sponsors, representing the group at workshops and conferences, and generally helping monitor on-going disasters and crises throughout the world.

    Requirements

    • PhD in operations management, supply chain management, logistics, operations research, econometrics, industrial engineering or a similar degree preferred
    • Proven capability to publish in top-tier academic journals
    • Prior research on humanitarian operations is a plus
    • Prior collaboration with humanitarian organizations is a plus
    • Fluency in written and oral English
    • Profound knowledge of quantitative modelling and optimization techniques
    • Knowledge of qualitative research techniques is a plus
    • Excellent organizational, supervision, and oral/written communication skills
    • Excellent work ethic

    Preferred Start Date

    Between July 2019 and September 2019.

    Conditions

    One-year contract. Renewable.

    Over the past 17 years, INSEAD Humanitarian Research Group (HRG) has been one of the world-leading research groups on humanitarian logistics.
