Post-Doc Opportunity in Methane Decomposition, Carbon Capture Systems & Energy Markets

We are recruiting a post-doctoral research associate to make a multi-disciplinary assessment of
the impact of natural gas decomposition to hydrogen and solid carbon, mixing policy, technical,
and economic perspectives. This work is funded by a JHU Discovery Award entitled "The
Carbon Age: Prospects for Lowering CO 2 Emissions in the Short Term by Increasing Fossil Fuel
Use?!," a deliberately provocative title intended to spur creative analysis of whether emerging
fossil fuel-related technologies may lead to reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and what gaps
in technology and policy exist to hinder adoption. The post-doctoral fellow will be supervised
by Prof. Ben Hobbs (Environmental Health and Engineering, Whiting School of Engineering),
Prof. Sarah Jordaan (Energy Resources and Environment, JHU School of Advanced International
Studies), and Prof. Jonah Erlebacher (Materials Science and Engineering, Whiting School of
Engineering). We especially encourage candidates with demonstrated capabilities or
experience in energy systems and economics modeling.  Familiarity with integrated national
models such as NEMS or MARKAL is a plus.

A Ph.D. and skills relevant to the proposed work are required.

Potential applicants should please apply directly at https://apply.interfolio.com/83481. Please include your cover
letter, CV, list of names/contacts of three references, and copies of relevant publications. If you
require sponsorship for work authorization, please be sure to include this information in your
Interfolio package.  For fullest consideration, apply by Jan. 1, 2022.

Questions can sent to Prof. Hobbs (bhobbs@jhu.edu), Prof. Jordaan (sarahjordaan@jhu.edu) or
Prof. Erlebacher (jonah.erlebacher@jhu.edu) putting "Post-Doc Opportunity in Methane
    Decomposition" in the subject line.
