The Department of Supply Chain Management and Analytics in the College of Business at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln invites applications for an open-rank Professor of Practice position with an August 2020 start date. We seek outstanding candidates in all areas of supply chain management, operations management and business analytics. This is a non-tenure leading position, with a teaching load of three or four courses per semester in supply chain management and/or business analytics, potentially including online MBA and/or MS courses. This will be an academic year (nine month) appointment. Salary and benefits are competitive and consistent with other Big Ten universities.
This is a career-oriented, teaching-focused position. Professors of Practice are appointed to three-year terms, with performance reviews conducted annually, with the opportunity for future multi-year renewals. The successful candidate is expected to become involved in the Department and College's teaching mission and to teach a variety of courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, the candidate will be expected to participate, as appropriate, in the governance of the Department and College of Business, in academic policy-making, and in a variety of non-class activities such as advising students.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Applicants must have: 1) a master's degree, along with relevant industrial experience in supply chain management, operations management and/or business analytics; OR 2) a doctorate in supply chain management, operations management, business analytics, management information systems, or a related field (such as industrial engineering), or will have completed all of the requirements for the Ph.D. at the time of appointment.
Applicants must demonstrate an ability to teach college-level courses in supply chain management, operations management or business analytics.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching large lecture sections of undergraduate courses and the ability and desire to teach both online and in-person are preferred.
About the Department of Supply Chain Management and Analytics
The Department of Supply Chain Management and Analytics consists of 12 tenured and tenure-track faculty, along with one professor of practice and one full-time lecturer. The department is responsible for teaching the College of Business core courses in Operations and Supply Chain Management and Business Analytics/Information Analysis. The department offers an undergraduate major in supply chain management, as well as a minor in business analytics. At the graduate level, the department teaches courses in the MBA program, and offers certificates in supply chain management and business analytics, as well as an MS in Business Analytics.
