    The Robert Pamplin Jr. School of Business (PSOB) at the University of Portland invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor level to join our Operations & Technology Management (OTM) discipline group beginning the Fall semester 2021. The OTM group currently offers an undergraduate program, Master of Science program in OTM, and Business Analytics online certificate program within the business school. The OTM group seeks a dynamic colleague to join our team. This position is pending budgetary approval.

    The OTM faculty offer undergraduate, MS, and MBA courses in operations management, quantitative methods, and information systems. OTM faculty are expected to be excellent teachers, serve the university and local communities, and maintain a research program leading to publication in leading academic and practitioner journals. OTM faculty have been very successful in building relationships with the local business community leading to teaching, research and consulting opportunities, and view this as an important part of our mission and success.

    Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until qualified candidates are identified. OTM representatives plan on participating in the virtual AMCIS 2020, and possibly DSI or HICCS. In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, if we cannot attend any of these conferences physically, we will conduct online interviews.

    Responsibilities:

    Candidates must meet our immediate teaching needs in IT infrastructure management, IT enterprise architecture and analysis, IT security, IT audit, IT project management, R Programming for business, Python Programming for business, and introduction to operations and technology management.

    Candidates must also demonstrate business and technical knowledge and the ability to teach effectively in one or more of the following additional subject areas: database management and data warehousing, business intelligence/analytics, systems analysis and design, and data science & machine learning. Strong preference will be shown to candidates with an ability to teach in multiple areas and those who have prior experience and/or academic preparation in IT infrastructure management, IT enterprise architecture and analysis, and IT security.

    The standard teaching load at the University is 6 semester courses per academic year.
     

    Requirements:

    Education & Experience

    Required: Doctorate degree (if in progress, should be completed by date of appointment) in Information Systems and/or Operations Management.

    Candidates from other related fields may apply, but in such case, preference will be given to those applicants with business related research interests involving information systems.
