Description: The Information Systems (ISYS) department at the Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas seeks applicants for a position at the full professor level from fall 2022. Qualified candidates would be considered for an Endowed position.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the position should have: (a) a research and teaching record suitable for tenure at the full professor level (with documentation of publications, course evaluations and grants over the past 5 years); (b) an active research program with the potential to continue to publish in leading peer-reviewed journals (with documentation of research pipeline); (c) prior experience of teaching at the graduate level (doctoral seminars or master's/MBA courses in IS); (d) prior record of serving on committees, at the departmental, College and/or University levels; and (e) relevant experience or desire for taking on leadership roles, including department chair, within the next few years. The compensation package will be nationally competitive.
Preferred Qualifications: The following are not required but will be viewed favorably: (a) Prior experience of teaching in the areas of analytics, ERP, blockchain, database and cybersecurity; (b) prior experience in teaching doctoral seminars, and (c) a proven record of fund raising, research grants or gifts in kind.
The Information Systems Department: The ISYS department at the Sam M. Walton College of Business has an active research-oriented Ph.D. program, a Master of Information Systems program, a Professional Master of Information Systems, and a BSBA major in Information Systems. The department currently has ten tenured or tenure-track faculty positions, including four endowed faculty positions, in addition to three clinical faculty members, four full-time instructors, and several part-time instructors.
The ISYS department is a leader in cutting-edge research. While the department has a tradition and global reputation in behavioral research, faculty research interests are diverse and span across behavioral (management, adoption, use, and impacts of technology at individual, organizational, or societal levels) and economics-oriented (financial impacts of IT, panel data) aspects of IT. The department has been ranked in the top 5 globally in terms of publications in top IS journals (like MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of MIS and the Journal of AIS) for several years. Additionally, the departmental faculty is one of the only in the world to include a AIS LEO award winner, a Decision Sciences Institute Lifetime Distinguished Educator, an IEEE Fellow, and three AIS Fellows, and faculty have received numerous other accolades from major professional societies.
The ISYS department also boasts very strong undergraduate, masters, and PhD program curricula, and strong ties to organizations in a variety of industries both within Arkansas and all across the country. The department has a world class Enterprise Systems Program that gives our students experience with industrial-strength technology platforms, thanks to more than $200 Million in gifts of hardware, software, data, training, and financial support from IBM, Microsoft, SAP, Teradata, Tyson Foods, Wal-Mart, and others. The department is also home to the Blockchain Center of Excellence, launched in 2018 by the Governor of the State of Arkansas. The BCoE's mission is to make the Sam M. Walton College of Business an academic leader in education and research on blockchain-enabled technologies for digital ecosystems.
