Scale AI Research Chair in Supply Chain Analytics

The Department of Management Sciences at the University of Waterloo invites applications to fill a Research Chair in Supply Chain Analytics at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure and with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2020. We seek exceptional individuals with a proven track record in Supply Chain and Logistics research and a strong methodological background in Operations Research and/or Data Analytics/Data Science.

Management Sciences is a dynamic and growing interdisciplinary department in the Faculty of Engineering that carries active research and teaching activities in Operations Research, Information Systems, and Management of Technology. The Department offers an undergraduate degree in Management Engineering, as well as Master's and PhD programs in Management Sciences.  The Department offers a stimulating research environment and hosts well-established research groups in Supply Chain Management and Data Analytics/Data Science.

The successful candidate should have a PhD or equivalent in fields such as Industrial/Systems Engineering, Operations Research or Computer Science. The Candidate is expected to establish a rich and dynamic research program that strengthens the department's existing research and training efforts in Supply Chain Analytics, fosters collaboration with existing faculty in Supply Chain Management and Data Analytics/Data Science, enables student training, promotes collaboration with industry, and has the potential to contribute to the Scale AI mission (https://www.scaleai.ca/training/ai-research-chair-program/) especially:

    • "Universities will benefit from the additional resources to recruit world-class researchers and their support staff.
    • The program will further contribute to the realization of Scale AI's mission which is to establish an ecosystem that positions Canada among the world leaders in the field of AI applied to intelligent supply chains.
    • The host University's ecosystem, students, faculty and staff, will also benefit from participating in an innovative research chair program"

The appointment is contingent on a successful Scale AI application, in which the candidate is expected to detail their research and training plan and how it contributes to the mission of Scale AI. The salary range at the Associate or Full Professor is CAD $160,000 to $200,000. Negotiations beyond this range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.

Applications should be submitted electronically at: https://mansci-webapps.uwaterloo.ca/OFAS/. A cover letter, detailed curriculum vitae, description of the research program to be established, five sample publications, and the contact information for at least 3 references are required for the application to be considered complete. The research program is particularly important in the evaluation process and should include a clear vision, anticipated research thrusts, key objectives, expected impact, collaboration and funding plan, graduate student training, and budget to support the research program.

Review of applications will begin immediately and until July 5, 2020. If you have any questions regarding the position, the application process, assessment process, eligibility, the Scale AI program, or a request for accommodation during the hiring process, please contact the Chair of the Scale AI Chair Search Committee at: elhedhli@uwaterloo.ca.
