    Faculty Position in Operations Management/Supply Chain/Logistics

     

    The DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING & OPERATIONS RESEARCH (IEOR) at University of California, Berkeley welcomes applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the broad area of Operations Management and Logistics with an expected start date July 1, 2020. An initial round of pre-screening will be conducted at the INFORMS Conference in Seattle and possibly via Skype or other video-conference options after the conference. To be considered for a conference or Skype interview, please submit your application by October 1, 2019. 

    We are particularly interested in individuals who develop new and creative approaches based on operations research, artificial intelligence, machine learning or similar methodologies, to improve the design and performance of operations in business sectors including transportation, manufacturing, and online and traditional services, including healthcare. Candidates should be able to teach courses in one or more of these areas, and have the potential to secure research funding from governmental, non-profit, or industry sources. 

    The department offers BA, BS, MS, MEng, and PhD degrees and is at the forefront of research and teaching of operations research and data analytics methods, as well as the advancement of quantitative methodologies to solve problems in the areas of healthcare, logistics, supply chain management, energy, security, finance, and e-commerce.  The department has strong ties with other departments in the UC Berkeley College of Engineering and enjoys close relationships with the departments of Statistics, Mathematics, and Economics, as well as with the Haas School of Business.  Our location in the San Francisco Bay Area also offers outstanding opportunities for collaboration with local companies.     Applicants must have completed, or be in the process of completing, a PhD or an equivalent international degree in a related field at the time of application.
