    Assistant Professor of Operations Management

    Carson College of Business

    Department of Finance and Management Science

    Washington State University, Pullman, WA

     

    The Department of Finance and Management Science (FMS) in the Carson College of Business at Washington State University is seeking candidates for a permanent full-time position with 9-month academic appointment as an Assistant Professor of Operations Management in Pullman, Washington, to begin on August 16, 2022. The position is tenure-track and subject to budget approval.

    Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. in Operations Management or closely aligned field from a nationally or internationally recognized university prior to the appointment start date. Demonstrated record of research published in, or demonstrated potential to publish in, and current research targeted towards the field's premier journals. Demonstrated commitment to excellence or potential for excellence in teaching and teaching effectiveness.

     

    Preferred qualifications: Candidates who exhibit an ability to create a learning environment that facilities student engagement and success in their courses are preferred.

     

    Duties: The successful candidate will be required to teach four courses per year (typically two per semester) in Operations Management and related fields, conduct high-quality academic research, and serve the Department, College, and University as needed. The candidate is expected to participate actively in the Operations and Management Science Ph.D. program. The compensation will be based on candidate qualifications.

     

    Term, Compensation, and Support: The term of appointment is a nine-month academic year, beginning on August 16, 2022. Competitive salary and benefits with excellent retirement programs. Summer research support is also provided.

     

    General Information:

    Founded in 1890 in Pullman, WSU is the state of Washington's land-grant institution and one of the country's top public research universities.  WSU has an enrollment of over 29,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students and approximately 6,500 faculty and staff at its five campuses (Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities, Vancouver, and Everett), and online through its Global Campus. Unlike most multi-campus systems, WSU operates as an integrated university. Thus, all FMS faculty regardless of campus location are full members of the FMS department.  Also, the business curricula at all five campuses are accredited together as one curriculum by the AACSB (and AACSB accreditation was renewed for five years in 2019). 

    WSU is a premier research institution with ambitions to grow.  WSU is ranked as a "very high research activity" (R1) institution by the Carnegie Foundation.     About Carson College of Business 

    The Carson College of Business (CCB) enrolls 2,200 undergraduate students and houses the US News and World Report 13th ranked online MBA in the country, which enrolls over 700 students.  The college has 92 full-time faculty across its campuses and 75 staff.  The CCB has invested in and executed successful growth strategies.  As a result, the CCB has run budget surpluses every year since 2013, accumulating significant reserve funds held at the college and department level.

    Community:
