    Assistant/Associate Professor, Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering: Programmatic area of Industrial and Systems Engineering  

    Applications and nominations are invited for the position of a 9-month tenured or tenure-track Assistant/ Associate Professor in the Engineering Management (EM) Program under the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. IE/EM is a graduate program with shared oversight by ISE in Knoxville and the University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI) in Tullahoma, TN. The ISE Department offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Industrial Engineering and MS and PhD degrees with an EM concentration. Currently, the Department has a total of 11 tenured or tenure track faculty members, including two located at UTSI. Available effective 02/01/21, this position will be based at UTSI in Tullahoma and will include a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience and qualifications.     The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain a scholarly, externally funded, research program; to supervise graduate students; to develop and teach courses in the Industrial and Systems Engineering curriculum; and to provide service to the Institute, Department, University, and the profession.

    Qualifications

    An earned doctorate in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applied Mathematics or a closely related field is required. The successful applicant will have strong problem-solving and communication skills and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment. A strong commitment to teaching excellence at the graduate level, the ability to attract external funding and publish in leading scholarly journals are expected. Candidates with expertise and interests in all areas of industrial and systems engineering will be considered, although Manufacturing Systems, Model-Based Systems Engineering, Systems Analytics, and Uncertainty Quantification are of particular interest.
