Our world is facing many unprecedented challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic. These challenges are likely to persist and continue to test us as a community beyond the present crisis. Now, more than ever, the world needs innovative ideas to help shape a better future for humankind.

During this pandemic, Singapore has prioritized the safety and well-being of all its residents. At the same time, it has sought to sustain individuals' livelihoods and long-term economic growth. NUS' commitment to long-term growth parallels that strategy. We continue to hire and invest in our community of academics, researchers, staff, students, and alumni.

Universities all around the world are confronted with a once-in-a-lifetime disruption. But we must not stop nurturing the talented individuals who will rise and address our society's greatest needs. At the National University of Singapore (NUS), our relentless pursuit of talent is what drives us.

NUS stands united with all academic institutions worldwide. We strengthen international solidarity by looking for new ways to collaborate in order to mitigate disruptions created by the pandemic. In these trying times, new PhD graduates and post-doctoral researchers are entering a very tough job market. By continuing to hire new talent, NUS is investing in the next generation of scholars to help them realise their full potential for a better post-Covid-19 world.

Consistently ranked as one of the top universities in Asia and the world, NUS is internationally respected for its high-quality multi-disciplinary research that addresses complex and critical issues facing Asia and the world. This mission is embraced across NUS' 17 Schools and Faculties, as well as its 30 university-level research institutes and centers. The University is also home to three of Singapore's five Research Centers of Excellence (RCEs) - specializing in quantum technologies, cancer and mechanobiology - and is a partner in a fourth RCE on environmental life sciences and engineering. Much of the research at NUS is integrated and multi-disciplinary in nature, with particular emphasis on themes such as energy, environmental and urban sustainability solutions; biomedical sciences and translational medicine; active ageing; materials science; finance and risk management. Our newest research cluster supports Singapore's Smart Nation initiative through its strategic capabilities in data sciences, optimization research and cybersecurity.

The Department of Industrial Systems Engineering & Management (ISEM) at NUS would like to invite applications for tenure-track positions in data science, machine learning, operations research, and related disciplines. Our department values pure methodology as well as translational work with significant applications, as evidenced by the faculty's wide domain expertise. We are looking for candidates with the potential to build a record of excellence in both research and teaching.

Requisite is exceptional potential for leadership in research and education, an ability and willingness to teach at all levels of the program, and a PhD in operations research, statistics, computer/information science, or a related field by the start of the appointment. Successful candidates can expect excellent conditions for research and teaching, a collegial and supportive environment at a highly ranked international university, and the experience of living in a dynamic and exciting English-speaking city. In addition to competitive salaries, NUS provides an attractive support package including subsidized housing and relocation benefits. The department also provides a generous start-up research grant, 12-month salaries, and ample faculty release time for professional travel. Beyond the department's resources, the Singaporean government is very supportive of higher education and offers substantial opportunities for large research grants.
