    WSC Foundation Scholarships for Travel to 2018 Winter Simulation Conference (WSC 2018)

    CALL for APPLICATIONS

    WSC2018 Committee is pleased to announce scholarships to be awarded to deserving candidates (students, post docs, and junior faculty) in the US to attend the WSC2018 in Gothenburg, Sweden (see wintersim.org for details). Funds for the scholarship have been kindly provided by the WSC Foundation (https://connect.informs.org/wscfoundation/home). This scholarship program aims to foster the professional pipeline of simulation researchers by providing undergraduate/graduate students and junior faculty an opportunity to learn about the academic research and practical applications of simulation and professional development by attending the Winter Simulation Conference.  Scholarships will provide travel expense reimbursements up to $1,000 to up to 5 selected candidates. The awardees may be provided with a schedule to enjoy and learn from the conference with some specific activities from the following list:

    • Attending doctoral colloquium sessions  
    • Attending new attendee orientation
    • ACM/SIGSIM or INFORMS-SIM professional society meetings
    • Attending plenaries
    • Updates on social media regarding the conference
    Eligibility for Students
    • Have completed at least one class on simulation
    • Have an overall GPA equivalent to 3.50 or better on a 4.0 scale

    Eligibility for Junior Faculty

    • Have taught or are teaching a class on simulation
    • Do not have access to travel funding

    Submission and Selection

    Applicants should submit their application materials (please see attached file) as a single pdf file named as "App-Lastname-Firstname-University.pdf" 

    The submissions should be sent via email to jain@gwu.edu including the LastnameFirstName –travel –grant-app-WSC2018 in the subject line before 5:00pm US EST on Monday, Nov. 26, 2018.  WSC2018 Scholarships Committee will evaluate and select the scholarship recipients and inform the recipients by Friday, Nov. 30, 2018.
