    The Department of Information Technology and Analytics at Kogod School of Business, American University, invites applications for a tenure-line faculty position at the rank of assistant professor or associate professor for Academic Year 2019-2020 (starting in August 2019). Depending on qualifications, the appointee to the tenure-track position may be recommended for tenure at the time of hiring.

     

    Qualifications. Earned doctorate or anticipated completion of a doctorate by August 2019 in business (operations research, management science, operations management) or a related field. Exhibit the potential to publish high-quality research in business analytics areas, such as business intelligence, decision analysis, big data, and data science, in top journals (or an outstanding record of high-impact research for those with more experience). A successful record as an effective teacher in business analytics and business statistics courses as demonstrated by strong student evaluations of teaching. Experience with statistical programming languages (preferably R and Python). Candidates seeking an appointment with tenure should have a demonstrated record of achievement, including high-quality scholarship, outstanding teaching, and active engagement in academic and professional societies.

     

    Responsibilities. Create knowledge in the area of business analytics through rigorous, publishable, scholarly research. Teach courses in business analytics, predictive analytics, and statistics at the graduate and undergraduate levels in on-the-ground and on-line formats. Participate in department, school, and university activities.
