To the INFORMS community,
This note is to make you aware of a Special Issue of Annals of Operations Research (ANOR) that honors Harry Markowitz. The issue is Volume 346, published in March. As the issue Guest Editor, who worked for and with Dr. Markowitz, off and on, for 30 years, my goal was to bring together an outstanding collection of Finance, Economics, OR, and AI scholars and practitioners. I worked with Harry to produce the Markowitz chapter in the Saul Gass, Profiles in Operations Research, Springer 2011. As we reread the Simon piece, it is an appropriate time to reread many of the outstanding OR and Management Science founding fathers, many of whom are profiled in the Gass monograph.
