Abstracts are invited for oral and poster presentations in the "Critical Interdependent Infrastructure Systems" track during the 2020 ISSST conference to held from June 8-12 at Pittsburgh PA. The conference website is at https://www.issst.net

In modern society, our everyday needs are met through a variety of highly interdependent infrastructure systems (e.g., food production and supply network, electricity grids, water treatment and distribution, etc.) working together without major interruptions. Despite the importance of these complex interdependencies, our infrastructure systems are often designed and managed in a solitary and uncoordinated fashion, which often leads to sub-optimized outcomes as well as high system-level vulnerability under individual infrastructure failures. Hence, it is imperative to understand urban planning and decision-making from a systems perspective to guide future practices.

This track aims to provide a platform for researchers to exchange research methods and outcomes related to critical interdependent infrastructure systems, as well as to foster convergence research and collaborations targeting currently available funding sources. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

    • Modeling and analysis of infrastructure criticality under interdependency
    • Metrics and indicator frameworks for assessing infrastructure interdependency
    • Engineering, social, and other creative solutions to improve infrastructure resiliency and sustainability
    • Governance, planning, and policy for the critical interdependent infrastructure systems
    • Big data, sensors, Internet of Things (IoT), citizen science, and interdisciplinary research applied in critical infrastructure systems

We also encourage creative contributions on topics not listed. Abstracts should be between 350-500 words. An interdisciplinary technical committee has been assembled to review abstracts. Submitted abstracts will be sent to reviewers with closely aligned expertise. Please use the following link and select the track for submission.
