    RFF-CMCC European Institute on Economics and the Environment (EIEE) encourages applications by computational climate economists/scientists interested in working on high-stakes climate issues. Research topics include climate policy evaluation through big data, technological change and innovation, the distributional impacts of climate damages and policies, the labour market implications of the climate transition, and experimental approaches of behavioural economics. The ideal candidate for this position holds (or is close to completing) a PhD in economics, energy engineering, data science, applied mathematics or statistics, or related research areas and shows a strong track record in quantitative methods (machine learning, computational methods, etc.).

    The Institute aims to improve environmental, energy, and natural resource decisions through impartial economic research and policy engagement. EIEE promotes a highly interdisciplinary, international and collaborative research experience. The Institute is committed to high academic standards, as testified by 6 ERC grants won by EIEE researchers.

    Duties will be carried out in Milan (Italy) in the vibrant design district (@BASE). The selected candidate will interact with researchers of different research backgrounds and nationalities. She/he will focus on writing top-quality scientific papers, will be engaged in a global network and will have the chance to present at major conferences.     Assignments are expected to begin in the first half of 2022. The appointment period will be initially one year, renewable for two additional years. The gross salary will be based on qualification and working experience and competitive with major research centres in Europe.
