Dear colleagues -  I beg for your forgiveness about this posting and I beg for your understanding.  Chris/

Helping university students from Hong Kong to continue their studies in Taiwan during an unsettled period in Hong Kong

How can students currently enrolled in universities in Hong Kong continue their study when all universities are closed for the current calendar year?  As an educator, I care about the future of these young talents in Hong Kong because they represent the future of Hong Kong.

First, I am delighted to learn from two leading universities in Taiwan (National Taiwan University (NTU) and National Tsinghua University (NTHU)) that they have set up "special programs" to accommodate students currently enrolled in universities in Hong Kong to study in Taiwan as visiting students for the remaining of Fall 2019 semester and/or Spring 2020 semester.   (As of November 20, 2019, over 550 university students from Hong Kong have applied for these special programs at these two universities and over 150 of them are Hong Kong residents.)

Second, knowing many students from Hong Kong may not have the financial resources to visit Taiwan as visiting students, I have learned from various Taiwan university officials about ways to donate funds as financial aids for these students.  Based on my understanding, a gift of US$2000 can really help these university students to continue their studies at NTU or NTHU during this difficult period of time in Hong Kong.  (Due to limited funds, all non-Taiwanese students have a higher priority to receive financial support.) As such, I urge you to donate what you can.  Even a small donation US$10 can help for two reasons: (a) small things can change the world; and (b) small things can inspire others.

(A)Students currently enrolled in one of the eight universities in Hong Kong (i.e., Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, City University of Hong Kong, University of Hong Kong, Education University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Lingnan University) who would like to apply for the "Special Programs", see below:
