UB ISE is very pleased to announce our call to hire a new Teaching Assistant Professor for the department beginning in fall 2019.  This is a great opportunity for a recent or pending Ph.D. who has a passion for teaching, loves to work with motivated students, and is interested in mentoring students on research and/or applied projects with companies. We are particularly interested in a candidate with interests in statistics, engineering management and supply chain engineering.  The posting for the job can be found at:

    Position Description:

The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) at the University at Buffalo (UB) seeks to fill a Teaching Assistant Professor (Lecturer). We are particularly looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a diverse community of students and faculty and share our vision of helping all constituents reach their full potential.

Duties include teaching and developing courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, especially courses related to supply chain, production systems, engineering management, probability and statistics, and engineering economy; student advisement at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; support of industry internships; laboratory and instrumentation upgrades; leading of (or assisting in) student excellence initiatives; promoting ABET objectives; engaging in diversity enhancement; and external grant support in collaboration with the ISE Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Committees. Contribution to research is not required but is strongly encouraged.

The UB ISE department has a long history of education and scholarship in Industrial and Systems Engineering, offering B.S., M.S., Ph.D., and combined degrees with concentrations in operations research, human factors, and production systems. ISE at UB is enjoying an unprecedented period of growth, with nine recent hires (including two other teaching faculty). Please see www.ise.buffalo.edu for more information about the department.

The University at Buffalo (UB), a member of the prestigious American Association of Universities, is the largest and most comprehensive university in The State University of New York (SUNY) system, with about 20,000 undergraduates and 10,000 graduate students and 1600 fulltime faculty. The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences has 6,000 students enrolled across 9 academic departments.

Buffalo is a city with a rapidly growing economy, eclectic neighborhoods, world-class art galleries and museums, a vibrant theater and music community, the Lake Erie waterfront, a city-wide system of parks designed by renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, and major and minor league sports teams. The awe-inspiring Niagara Falls is just 20 minutes away. The department is located on the UB North Campus in suburban Amherst, an area that combines outstanding public schools and services with a surprisingly low cost-of-living.
