Applications are invited for multiple faculty positions at all ranks in the Department of Industrial Engineering (IE) within the Faculty of Engineering at

Izmir University of Economics located in Izmir, Turkey.

Izmir University of Economics (IUE), the first foundation university in Izmir and in Aegean region, was established in 2001. In addition to 9.500 alumni in its 18-year history, IUE has today more than 10.500 students studying at associate degree under 8 Faculties, 2 Schools, 3 Vocational Schools, 4 Graduate Schools, and 9 Research and Application Centres, undergraduate and graduate programs in an extensive variety of fields. The Department of Industrial Engineering operates under the Faculty of Engineering and main mission of the department is to educate and equip qualified students with leadership attributes, entrepreneurial capabilities, critical thinking skills and the ability to contribute valuable research in a variety of sciences with the vision of becoming a pre-eminent institution of higher learning at the forefront of education on a universal level and to pioneer valuable research in a variety of disciplines.

The core research competencies and interests of Department of Industrial Engineering include the elaboration, testing and validation of new models for the analysis, design, evaluation, and management of complex sustainable systems. Also, there are some more specific studies on the development of innovative technical systems, future internet applications,  modelling and simulation of industrial processes and systems, global supply chain optimization, sustainable and green logistics and data mining etc. The IE department has numerous laboratory facilities (Automated Manufacturing Systems Laboratory (Industry 4.0), Simulation and Optimization Laboratory, Work Systems and Ergonomics Laboratory). The IE department is seeking applicants working in all areas, with preference given to those working in Stochastic Modelling, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Data Sciences (including predictive and prescriptive analytics, and/or big data), Artificial Intelligence, Systems Engineering, Human Factors/Ergonomics and Advanced Manufacturing. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely

related field, or expected to have a Ph.D. degree by August 2019, and be eligible to work in the Turkey with excellent communication skills. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to conduct high quality, methodologically innovative research, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advise MSc students, and provide appropriate service to the department, university and the profession.
