John Boylan (Lancaster University) and Aris Syntetos (Cardiff University) have recently published a book, "Intermittent Demand Forecasting" (Wiley):

This is the first book that unites forecasting and inventory management, closing the gap between theory and practice in this area. It emphasises intermittent demand items (spare parts and slow-moving stock) which are at the highest risk of obsolescence, whilst also presenting the biggest opportunities for financial and environmental benefits.
