The Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College is accepting applications for a postdoctoral research fellow position in the broad area of data-driven decision making. The postdoctoral fellow will conduct research under the supervision of Professor Wesley Marrero.

    Overview
The successful candidate will help in the design and application of data-driven decision support models that consider the challenges associated with their implementation in practice. Depending on the interests of the postdoctoral research fellow, they may assist in the development of flexible decision support methodologies for online settings and data uncertainty.  The postdoctoral research fellow may also help in grant writing. Contingent on the postdoctoral fellow's interest, they could collaborate with other researchers within Thayer School and Dartmouth College, as well as with the research groups Dr. Marrero is affiliated with at the University of Michigan and Harvard Medical School.

    Duration
One year with the expectation of renewal for a second year (preferred) upon mutual agreement. Other durations can be considered for exceptional candidates. The preferred start date is January 1, 2022, but a later date may also be possible.

    Qualifications
    • Ph.D. in operations research, statistics, industrial and systems engineering, business analytics, or a closely related field by the start date.
    • Demonstrated research ability and vision, excellent written and spoken communication skills, and comfort working both collaboratively and independently.
    • Expertise in decision making under uncertainty, machine learning, statistics, or simulation.
    • Experience with statistical software and programming languages (e.g., R, Python).
Candidates with non-academic work experience, with nontraditional academic backgrounds, or from members of historically underrepresented groups in science and engineering are encouraged to apply.

    Application Process
Interested candidates should apply to this posting and submit the following materials:
    • Resume/Curriculum Vitae
    • Cover Letter
Candidates can also submit an optional Research Statement (no more than three pages).
