A full-time postdoctoral research associate is sought for a newly funded energy project on "Improved Power Flow Optimization Using Decision Diagrams" under the direction of Danial Davarnia and Sarah Ryan at Iowa State University. This individual will contribute to developing fundamental solution techniques for mixed integer nonlinear programs based on decision diagrams, using the developed techniques to solve optimal power flow problems, and testing the solutions for cost and reliability performance. A PhD in industrial engineering, operations research, or a related field is required. Desired qualifications include:
- Experience with formulating and solving integer and nonlinear programs.
- Knowledge of network optimization and cutting plane methods.
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming as well as solvers such as CPLEX/Gurobi.
- Understanding of electric power system operations and markets.
Candidates should use this link to submit their application, indicating the project title in their cover letter. Consideration of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
