INFORMS is excited to announce that submissions are now being accepted for the new Donald P. Gaver, Jr. Early Career Award. This award is to honor the legacy of longtime member and fellow of INFORMS, Don Gaver (February 16, 1926 - February 11, 2018). He served as chairman of the INFORMS Applied Probability Society in 1989 and was highly respected among his peers as well as a mentor to students. He was an elected member and fellow of numerous societies in addition to INFORMS, including the American Statistical Association, Institute of Mathematical Statistics, The American Association for the Advancement of Science and The National Academy of Engineering. He also received the Distinguished Civilian Service Award presented by the Secretary of the Navy.
The purpose of the award is to support creative and diverse work in operations research in the early career of the recipient. The candidate must be within ten years of receiving a PhD and be in a tenure track academic appointment. To learn more about the application process, click here.
