The Health Systems Track Division of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering (IISE) announces the Health Systems Track Student Best Paper Award whose objective is to recognize excellence among its members. The award program brings prestige to the Health Systems Division as well as to the recipients honored.
Three finalists for the Student Best Paper Award will be selected to make oral presentations at the 2019 IISE Annual Conference to be held in Orlando, FL, from May 18-21, 2019. All finalists will receive an award certificate. The winner will also receive a plaque. The Best Student Paper Award will be presented at the Session Name of the Health Systems Track during the 2019 IISE Annual Conference.
The broad criteria for selecting the recipient of the Health Systems Track Student Best Paper Award are: (a) academic significance (originality, depth, and completeness of the work and its potential impact on future research); and (b) research relevance to Health Systems (importance of the problem and its impact on the practice of Health Systems).
Eligibility Requirements and Application Process:
* The paper topic should fit the Health Systems themes.
* The student should be the first author of the submitted paper. Moreover, a formal, signed statement by the student's advisor should be submitted along with the paper affirming that the majority of the original results presented in the paper are due to the student rather than the advisor or other collaborators involved in the work.
* The paper should be completed during the first author's undergraduate or graduate studies.
* Previous finalists who wish to compete again should submit an entirely different paper. However, past winners are not eligible for the competition.
* The finalists will be announced before the conference and will present their papers in the session of Health Systems Best Student Paper Competition at the 2019 IISE Annual Conference.
* Paper considered for this competition MAY NOT be simultaneously submitted to other competitions in the IISE Annual Conference.
* IISE Conference and Health Systems division do NOT own copyright of the papers submitted to this competition. However, all participants are encouraged to also submit abstracts / papers to the Health Systems track using conference submission system.
* Paper format: Follow the paper guidelines and requirements of IISE conference proceedings.
* To enter, please submit a blinded and unblinded version of the paper along with a formal signed statement by the student's advisor, all in electronic format (.PDF files ONLY), with subject "Health Systems Best Student Paper Competition" to the 2019 contest coordinators Dr. Wen Cao, wen.cao@peninsula.org, no later than Jan 18, 2019. Late or incomplete submissions will not be eligible for the contest.
