The Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria in collaboration with the British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCi) are accepting applications for postdoctoral position on artificial intelligence application to investment risk management.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will be part of a university-industry partnership to work on the development of artificial intelligence solution to support mutual fund risk management. This partnership involves an interdisciplinary team of researchers from University of Victoria and BCi.
The initial appointment is for one year starting as soon as possible. The renewal of the appointment for a second year will depend on mutual consent, satisfactory performance, and funding availability.
Qualifications:
Applicants must
- hold a PhD in relevant field such as computer sciences, computer engineering, operational research and data analytics. The PhD degree should not be older than three years by the application deadline,
- demonstrate merits and excellent scientific publications in the field of employment,
- have strong research skills relevant to artificial intelligence applications to finance (e.g., machine learning, reasoning, processing, decision making, perception, social networks, measurement, simulation, networks, portfolio management, risk management),
- be proficient in English, both spoken and written,
- have team working abilities, and
Successful candidate should be application driven, entrepreneurial, and would like to work on practical complex problems and innovative solutions. Knowledge and experience of data science and analytics, multidimensional measurement, risk management, distributed algorithms, optimization, multi-objective mathematical programming, multiple criteria decision analysis, anomaly detection, prediction, resource allocation and management, etc. are desired.
Experience in industry-university partnerships is preferred.
