    Rochester Institute of Technology's Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor. Candidates with exceptional qualifications will be considered at the rank of associate professor. We are looking for candidates in all areas of Industrial Engineering that complement and/or expand our current thrust areas. Candidates with research interests in operations research/simulation, production systems, sustainable engineering, quality engineering, healthcare systems engineering, data sciences (including predictive and prescriptive analytics, and/or big data), artificial intelligence, systems engineering, human factors/ergonomics, and advanced manufacturing are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field, or be ABD with expected degree completion by August 2019. Candidates must also have a record of dissemination of scholarly research; demonstrate potential for high quality teaching; show potential to establish a successful externally sponsored research program; demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills; and have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the university's commitment to diversity and pluralism. Faculty responsibilities include teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, student advising, conducting sponsored research and providing service to the university community.

    THE COLLEGE/ DEPARTMENT:

    The ISE Department (http://www.rit.edu/kgcoe/ise) has been one of the most rapidly-growing programs at RIT in recent years and is well-positioned to continue this growth. Since 2010, the department has experienced a 55% increase in student headcount and an increase of over 100% in research expenditures. A significant investment in laboratory infrastructure has helped propel this growth. The department is particularly well known for its outstanding advanced manufacturing facilities. The AMPrint Center (www.rit.edu/amprint) has world-class additive manufacturing and

    multifunctional printing capabilities. The Brinkman Advanced Machine Tools Laboratory is a model for industry-academia partnerships that provides faculty and students access to state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing capabilities. The Toyota Production Systems Lab mimics a "real world" production facility and supports a wide variety of activities pertaining to lean manufacturing. The department has access to a UNIX-based cloud system that include large memory computers, parallel computing clusters, distributed computing resources, high performance storage servers, and off-campus supercomputing access. Additional laboratory development are ongoing in the areas of Biomechanics, Biomedical Design and Manufacturing, Health Care Systems, and Applied Statistics. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Industrial and Systems Engineering, with additional degree options in Sustainable Engineering and Engineering Management. Faculty are also engaged in an interdisciplinary engineering Ph.D. program in which students can engage in fundamental and applied research centered in four key industries: Transportation, Energy, Communications and Healthcare (T/E/C/H).

    The Kate Gleason College of Engineering has established its reputation as a preeminent provider of career-oriented engineering education with a rapidly growing commitment to research.     REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • PhD in Industrial Engineering or closely related field, or ABD with expected degree completion by August 2019

    • Demonstrated potential for high quality teaching

    • A record of dissemination of scholarly research

    • Research aligned with one or more departmental thrust areas depicted in this job description

    • Potential to establish successful externally sponsored research programs

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
