Lecturer in Operations and Decision Technologies (Security of Employment series)

The Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine is seeking candidates to fill one position as a Lecturer in Operations and Decision Technologies (within the Security of Employment series) to begin as early as July 1, 2019.

The working title for this role would be Clinical Assistant Professor (for a Lecturer with Potential Security of Employment (LPSOE) before security of employment), and Clinical Associate Professor (LSOE) or Clinical Full Professor (Senior LSOE) after security of employment is awarded.

The Security of Employment series requires, in addition to excellent teaching and service, externally recognized professional and scholarly achievement in the specific discipline and/or in pedagogy. We will consider candidates in all operations and decision technologies areas and preference may be given to those who have taught operations and decision technologies courses at both the undergraduate and graduate (One-year Masters, MBA, and PhD) levels. We offer courses during the day and also in the evenings and/or Saturdays including in summer.

The Merage School's strategic focus is on Leadership for a Digitally Driven World.

Teaching assignments may include teaching undergraduate, MBA, or PhD classes in management science and operations management, including revenue management and decision analysis. Teaching may include big data and business analytics topics in our new Masters in Business Analytics program (including the core course in Management Science as well as elective courses in the Operations track such as Operations Analytics, Supply Chain Analytics and Predictive Analytics) as well as the newly redesigned MBA statistics course, Business Analytics: Data-Based Decision Making in the Digital Age.

In the Security of Employment series, externally recognized professional and scholarly achievement is evaluated based on research in the specific discipline and/or in pedagogy. The Operations and Decision Technologies (ODT) faculty members use and develop advanced analytic methodologies to address decision situations across the functional areas of business. The ODT area's current strengths are in the development and use of optimization techniques, risk and decision analysis methods, and global supply chain management strategies.  Methods include mathematical programming, stochastic processes, game theory, field observations, decision theory and behavioral experiments. Application domains range across advertising and social media, health and safety, environmental sustainability and electronics recycling, online service platforms, developing economies, assembly systems, and closed-loop supply systems.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
We seek applicants with a Ph.D. in operations management, management science/operations research, or related disciplines and commitment to excellence in teaching, research (academic, professional, and/or pedagogic), and service.  Salary will be commensurate with prior performance and experience.
