    Best Track Paper Competition
    2021 IISE Annual Conference

    May 22-25, Virtual Conference

     

    The Data Analytics & Information Systems (DAIS) Division of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering (IISE) announces the DAIS Best Track Paper Competition. The purpose of this competition is to honor outstanding papers in research and practice of data analytics and information systems.

    Eligibility Requirements and Application Process:

    • The authors should have an accepted oral abstract to be able to submit full papers.
    • Please directly submit your paper using the conference submission system before the deadline of IISE annual conference. Please do NOT submit the papers to the committee chairs.
    • There are two options in the conference submission systems. Please carefully review the two options and indicate your preference when you submit your full paper on the online portal.
      • Option A: You plan to submit a full paper via the online portal to be reviewed for:
        • publication in the conference proceedings and
        • best track paper competition
      • Option B: You plan to submit a full paper via the online portal to be reviewed:
        • only for the best track paper competition
    • The paper topic must fit the DAIS themes (see the CFP of DAIS track).
    • Please follow the paper guidelines and requirements of IISE conference proceedings.
    • Previous finalists who wish to compete again should submit an entirely different paper. However, past winners are not eligible for the competition.
    • The paper must present original research results and cannot be accepted for publication elsewhere at the time of submission.
    • Paper considered for this competition MAY NOT be simultaneously submitted to other competitions in the IISE Annual Conference.
    • The finalists will be announced before the conference and will present their papers in the session of DAIS Best Track Paper Competition at the 2021 IISE Annual Conference.
    • Paper format: Follow the paper guidelines and requirements of IISE conference proceedings. The selected papers should be included in the conference proceedings.

    Evaluation Process:

    Each eligible paper will be reviewed by 2-3 external referees, each of whom will assign a numerical score using the following five criteria. For each criterion, an integer score between 1 and 10 (1 = Paper meets none of the elements described for the component, 10 = Paper meets all of the elements described for the component) will be assigned.

    • Contribution to data analytics and information systems research (25%);
    • Significance of the problem (25%);
    • Research methods/techniques is appropriate (25%);
    • Results are interpreted correctly and conclusions are reasonable (12.5%);
    • Organization and quality of writing (12.5%).

    All eligible papers will be ranked by the sum of the weighted scores of external referees. Four finalists for the Best Track Paper Award will be selected based on the final ranking to make oral presentations at the 2021 IISE Annual Conference to be held online at May 22-25, 2021. The committee will select the winner(s) based on the review evaluation and oral presentation. All finalists will receive an award certificate. The winner will receive a plaque and a partial reimbursement of the registration fee, which is generously sponsored by the department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The Best Track Paper Award will be presented at the town hall meeting of the DAIS Track during the 2021 IISE Annual Conference.
