The Department has a long tradition of research and instructional programs in the data sciences. Faculty have published some of the top-cited research papers in decision support systems and business intelligence/data analytics history and continue this publishing excellence today. The Department also partners with OSU's Center for Health Sciences and the Center of Health Systems Innovation in delivering graduate programs and certificates, and conducting applied research, in health informatics and health care analytics.

The Department is also a national leader in Information Assurance (IA), having long been designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in IA Education (CAE/IAE) and Research (CAE-R) by the NSA and the Department of Homeland Security. Additionally, the MSIS Department is known for its innovative programs related to high school student outreach including the ISyTE (Information Systems Technology Exploration) Summer Academy.

The preferred applicant should be engaged in impactful research with aspirations of publishing in top MIS journals. Finally, applicants should have an innovative mindset and be willing to support and participate in departmental initiatives as needed.

To be considered for the position, the preferred applicant will have completed a Ph.D. in MIS or related area from an AACSB-accredited university. Those close to finishing their degree (e.g., ABD status) will also be considered. Applicant screening will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Interviews will begin at the major academic conferences (AMCIS, INFORMS, ICIS, etc.), with follow-up campus interviews also taking place during the Fall 2018 semester. All positions are contingent upon available funding.
