    Postdoctoral Fellowship – Optimization under Uncertainty for Healthcare and Social Good at the University of Toronto

    Position Summary: We invite applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellowship position to advance research in the field of Optimization under Uncertainty with Applications to Healthcare and Social Good. The candidate will collaborate with Professor Andre Cire (Rotman School of Management & University of Toronto Scarborough) and Professor Adam Diamant (Schulich School of Business at York University). The successful applicant will lead research activities related to the development and implementation of optimization models. They will also receive regular mentorship and training, and will be expected to disseminate their research findings by submitting academic manuscripts to top management science journals such as those on the Financial Times and UT Dallas journal lists.


    Qualifications:

    1. PhD (earned or to be granted) in Industrial Engineering, Management Science, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Operations Management, Information Systems, Computer Science or related fields.
    2. Strong expertise in optimization with a background in mathematical programming, decomposition techniques, and discrete optimization.
    3. Strong communication skills (both written and spoken) and self-motivation.
    4. Advanced programming skills with knowledge in one of Python/R/Java/C and optimization libraries such as Gurobi and CPLEX.


    Employment Details: This position is for one year with the possibility of an extension for an additional year based on mutual interest. The starting date is September 2021 with the expectation that meetings will initially be held virtually. This may shift to in-person in 2022 and the candidate should be prepared to relocate to Toronto, Canada.
