    Job Description

    The Questrom School of Business at Boston University anticipates an opening for a tenure-track Assistant Professor trained in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence techniques. The anticipated start date for this faculty position is July 1, 2019. 

    We seek outstanding candidates who would be comfortable in, stimulated by, and engage with the vibrant cross-disciplinary community of data science. Prospective candidates must have demonstrated the ability to produce high quality scholarly work at the top peer-reviewed outlets. Candidates with relevant research and publication experience in the industry are also encouraged to apply. Faculty will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in analytics and contribute to cross-disciplinary curriculum development activities.

    The Questrom School of Business is building a strong group of faculty with expertise in all aspects of data science and analytics. Key hires in this area in recent years represent a strategic focus for the school. The strengths of the Questrom School in analytics along with its ties to other key institutions focused on data science research at Boston University, such as the Hariri Institute for Computing, present a unique and exciting opportunity to develop a cross-disciplinary research agenda at the intersection of machine learning and social science.

    Required Skills

    Candidates with a PhD in core business-oriented disciplines whose research leverages their deep expertise in the methods of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence; or with a PhD in Computer Science or Statistics whose research focuses on problems of significant interest to business or social science research community, are particularly encouraged to apply. Although the candidate's research is expected to be interdisciplinary, the successful candidate upon hiring may have an appointment at a department in Questrom School of Business, such as Information Systems, Marketing, or Operations Management, that is close to the candidates' area of research.
