    Good morning,

Earlier this morning I learned about this Challenge being sponsored by the National Institutes of Standards and Technology. According to NIST:

"Video analytics could provide first responders with lifesaving tools. However, because first responders operate in environments that challenge cameras with rain, dust, insufficient light, and unstable camera mounts, these tools are currently just out of reach. A new prize challenge, Enhancing Computer Vision for Public Safety, is designed to develop a new line of research that will bring the incredible potential of computer vision tools closer to reality for public safety. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) needs your help to create image datasets and quantify the impact of camera impairments on public safety analytics. Because seeing what you're up against is half the battle. Register today at pscompvischallenge.com and compete for up to $240,000 in cash prizes."

Submissions opened in September and are due by October 20. More information about the challenge and timeline are available at pscompvischallenge.com.

    Thank you,

    Jeff Cohen
