    Job Summary:

    Southern Methodist University (SMU) is seeking a Post Doctoral Fellow in the Engineering Management, Information, and Systems Department, Lyle School of Engineering.  The Post-Doctoral Fellow will report to Dr. Sila Cetinkaya (sila@smu.edu) directly and play an active role in existing and new research projects in supply-chain and healthcare operations.  The primary duties will include (i) active research in modeling, optimization (stochastic and deterministic), simulation, and data harvesting and analysis, (ii) manuscript development for peer-reviewed publications, and (iii) assistance with sponsored research activity.  This position will support goals that are specific to promoting research, enhancing research environment, and research productivity.  

     

    Essential Functions:

    Active research in modeling, optimization (including stochastic and deterministic methods), simulation, and data harvesting and analysis. Active participation in research group with research students and collaborators as a collaborator and mentor as appropriate.  Active support for the lead faculty in these areas.  Documentation of research results, development of research presentations, publications and sponsored research activity. Active support for the lead faculty for these purposes.

     

    Education and Experience:

    Successful completion of a Ph.D. is required. 

     

    Optimization, applied probability, and simulation modeling and relevant computer programming skills are required.

     

    Journal submission and publication experience/activity in peer-reviewed journals is preferred.

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Candidate must be highly motivated with a deep interest in research in supply-chain and healthcare operations.

     

    Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of constituencies. 

     

    Candidate should have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and staff.

     

    Candidate must possess excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills.

     

    Candidate must possess significant problem solving skills.  Must develop solutions using

    substantial creativity, resourcefulness and innovation.

     

    Candidate must have a strong focus on attention to detail.

     

    Salary:

    Salary commensurate with experience & qualifications.
