The Daniel H. Wagner Prize for Excellence in the Practice of Advanced Analytics and Operations Research is awarded to author or authors of a work that best exemplifies excellence in writing, clarity in presentation, innovation in analysis, and practical success.
This prize emphasizes the quality and coherence of the analysis used in practice and honors the memory of the late Dr. Daniel H. Wagner, a member of ORSA, then INFORMS for more than forty years. Dr. Wagner strove for strong mathematics applied to practical problems, supported by clear and intelligible writing. This prize recognizes those principles by emphasizing good writing, clear presentations, strong analytical content, and verifiable practice successes over quantitative benefits.
