    Dear colleagues,

Many submissions to Management Science draw insights from data. Submissions which contribute directly to specific areas of Management Science such as Operations, Finance, Marketing, Healthcare, etc. have a natural home in their corresponding departments. But advances in data and information technology have empowered companies to increasingly utilize data in their operations and decision makings and also have given rise to new questions and challenges; for example: How to efficiently personalize products and services while preserving consumers' privacy and avoiding discrimination? How to design interpretable Machine Learning algorithms that can guide decision making in complex environments? How to integrate large scale data collection, learning, and optimization modules? How to conduct and evaluate experiments in the presence of network effects?

Management Science's Big Data Analytics (BDA) department was established in 2018 to foster and promote research in these areas, and as the venue for papers that offer novel ways for modeling and analyzing data, leading to new managerial insights, policies, and opportunities. The BDA department, since its inception, has received more than 200 submissions, including submissions to the Special Issue on Data-Driven Prescriptive Analytics and more than fifteen Fast Track submissions.

We would like to encourage submissions that make methodological contributions to data science and have applications to any functional areas of business. Particularly, developments in data-driven prescriptive modeling and analysis is of interest. Furthermore, papers dealing with the theory and applications focusing on field experimentation for enhancing and validating such data-driven prescriptive models are strongly encouraged. We also welcome submissions of papers whose extended abstract has previously appeared in conference proceedings such as ICML and NeurIPS. These submissions should include sufficient incremental contributions. We recommend the authors to contact the Department Editors to assess suitability of such submissions.

In addition, we have recently expanded the Associate Editors for the department to better represent the broad range of areas served by the department. Here is the list of distinguished Associate Editors of the department.
