Dear INFORMS Community,
Last week we lost our beloved colleague Gabor Rudolf, a faculty member in Industrial Engineering at Koc University, who passed away after a long battle with an illness for several years.
Gabor's research contributions ranged from applications of optimization in graph theory, computer science, computational biology, stochastic optimization and risk modeling. His papers appeared in several top journals such as Mathematical Programming, SIAM Journal on Optimization and Operations Research. He was also knowledgeable about many areas beyond his published research. He was deeply interested in mathematics and philosophy and was passionate about music, literature and the arts. He was extremely generous and sharing with his colleagues, friends and students.
The passing away of such a bright and wonderful mind and a beautiful person at a very young age is a tragic loss to all those who knew him and to the INFORMS community. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, students and colleagues.
